Unit 2 Evaluation.
Use of equipment:
When i first started Media Nationals I had no idea how to use Photoshop and final cut.
I have used cameras with tripods in the past when i did a plasticine animation activity in the Wem Town Hall when I was 13 years old. In this activity i did use final cut but only towards the end. That is why I did not know how to use it when I took Media Nationals as a subject. I have also learnt how to use Blogger. I use Blogger to upload and post my work on my own blog. This is good because if i loose a file on the computer, then it will be safe on my blog.
Saving/storing material:
When ever I create a folder for my work I always give it an appropriate name that is relevant to the topic and easy to remember e.g. Magazine cover, music video treatment, research etc. When I name the folder I always save it in My Media folder and NEVER on the DESKTOP. If I save work on the desktop then i could loose it because the computer could brake and it would not be on the network for me to find.
Working accurately:
When ever I used a photo in my work I would crop it to make it look more neat. I also check my grammar to make sure that the writing that I have done makes sense and doesn't look like complete gibberish. I also check my spelling to also make sure that my work makes more sense and looks a lot more professional.
Creative:
Creativity has really helped during Media Nationals e.g. Art skills, creative writing etc. My creativity with Photoshop has improved because I now know how to use it. Using Photoshop has helped me to design and create magazine covers, movie covers and other artistic designs.
Strongest Skills:
When I started the course, my strongest skills where drawing and using a camera with a tripod. I still have these skills along with another skill that I have learnt, and that is Photoshop. I have learnt Photoshop by reading help sheets which show how to use Photoshop and what each button does in Photoshop.
Skills that need improvement:
A skill that I am still struggling with is Final Cut Express. I have used it in an animation activity but I only used it towards the end of the activity. That is why I did not know how to use it when I took Media Nationals as a subject.
I am good with filming but I am still struggling with loading the video tapes e.g. uploading them on to Youtube and Final Cut Express. I struggle with the video uploading because it links to final cut.
I have improved with Photoshop by asking a friend who is good at it to help me, and by reading help sheets.
